It is a ph otogr aphy convention and trade show held every year around late January to February. The trade show draws the country’s leading ph oto importers, distributors, and dealers, who usually offer their products at attractive discounts. The convention lines up sessions and presentations by foreign and local ph otographers. BACK TO TOP How often is Ph otoW orld Manila held? Every year. There are two versions of Ph otoW orld Manila (PWM)—an “international” convention held every three years since 1995 and a national convention held in the intervening years. PWM is organized by the Federation of Philippine Ph otogr aphers Foundation (FPPF), a non-stock, non-profit organization. BACK TO TOP How are the international and national conventions different? The international version features four to six (sometimes more) prominent speakers from the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia, and may be marketed to ph otographers in other countries (mainly Southeast Asia). The national version is marketed only to residents of the Philippines and features only one or two foreign speakers. Both versions additionally include four to six speakers from the Philippines. BACK TO TOP Can non-residents of the Philippines register in the national convention, too? Everybody is welcome to sign up in both the international and national conventions. Just because we don’t send out invitations and promotional brochures to other countries for the national convention does not mean non-residents of the country cannot register.
