FPPF Chairperson Edi Huang takes aim at Guimaras’ Smallest Plaza (inset), January 22, 2010. The island of Guimaras was part of the FPPF itinerary to explore the Bacolod-Guimaras-Iloilo area for possible photo destinations for the ASEAN Crossing Bridges program. The FPPF earlier held a one-day seminar in Bacolod and later hooked up with the Photographic Society of Iloilo for the 2010 Dinagyang Festival.

The Guimaras Provincial Museum included displays of religious icons, some dating back to the 17th Century. Photo above shows one of the religious statues on display at the museum.

Veteran photographer George Cabig smiles as he finds some of his old works on display at the Guimaras museum. The two Cabig photographs above (circa 1998) depicted the Balaan nga Pagtaltal, a commemoration of Christ’s suffering, held during the Holy Week in Guimaras, with a real live person there on the cross.

The FPPF team also invaded the serene surroundings of the Trappist monks in Guimaras. Photo above shows one of the monks, Bro. Peter, who gamely posed for the cameras of Lito Beltran (kneeling), Edi Huang (with back to camera), Prof. Joey Tañedo and Maria Macabio.

In Guisi, Guimaras can be found the new light tower amid the ruins of the old one.
