Workshop participants try out their cameras on the first day of the 4th FPPF Basic Photography workshop in Cebu City. The 3-day workshop runs until Sunday. Another workshop, CPW5, is scheduled for May 14-16 in the same venue at the Sacred Heart Center in D. Jakosalem St., Cebu City. Photo by Icky Salazar.

Attendees are all eyes and ears as Prof. Joey Tanedo (not in photo) explains the importance of the right attitude and preparation for the photographer during the first day of the workshop. After Joey’s lecture, FPPF instructor Ador Pamintuan followed with the intricacies of camera operation and how to get proper exposure using the DSLR camera.

Among the foreign guests in attendance were Akiko Tamura of Japan (foreground) and, next to her, Agnieszka Doberschuetz from Poland. Aga said she was feeling a bit chilly in the room, thus the newspaper cover. Also noted in the Cebu workshop was the participation of a number of young people aged 12 to 17, taking advantage of the summer break to take up serious photography lessons.

Ador Pamintuan instructs Sabrina Millstone, a German-American, in the use of her Nikon D80 digital SLR camera. Beena has stayed a year in Cebu, studying Fine Arts at the University of San Carlos in the city.

Prof. Joey Tanedo helps out during the hands-on shooting instructions. All four FPPF instructors – Ador Pamintuan, Joey Tanedo, Dennis Araneta and Chris Malinao – take part during hands-on sessions in camera operation and actual shooting, assisted by Cebu-based Icky Salazar and Henry Yu, both also graduates of the FPPF workshops.
