The FPPF is hosting a seminar designed for non-teachers who teach: non-education graduates, teaching practitioners and other professionals who are in the field of training human resources who would like to have basic knowledge, theories, principles, skills, values and training inherent in the teaching profession.
“Train the Trainors” seminar will help participants develop their understanding of the intricacies in the teaching-learning processes, facilitate their acquisition of basic teaching competencies, and instill in them positive attitude towards the teaching profession.
FPPF Project Director Lito Beltran said the “Train the Trainors” seminar will be conducted by mentors who are PhD graduates. “It is one of the rare workshops offered to those who want to go into lecturing as a full-time job or as an extra source of income,” Beltran said. The seminar will run for four consecutive Fridays and will start on July 2, 2010. Venue will be the FPPF Art Chamber in Fort Santiago, Intramuros, Manila.

The first session will focus on the different principles and theories of learning and motivation. In this theme, participants will be exposed to different learning perspectives and theoretical differences of learning. Motivational factors that may affect the processes of learning will also be elaborated.
The second session/s will tackle the different methodologies, strategies and techniques of teaching. The specific details of the management of learning and the possible interventions that will ensure learning will be discussed in these sessions.
Lastly, educational technology and development of instructional materials will aid the teacher in his/her delivery of the lesson. The principles and theories underlying the significance and relevance of these media will be the focus of the last session.
