The Federation of Philippine Photographers Foundation is currently holding a “Train the Trainors” seminar at the FPPF Art Chamber 2 in Fort Santiago, Intramuros, Manila for FPPF instructors, mentors and affiliate camera club members. FPPF Director Lito Beltran, who pushed for the project, says the seminar is designed to make the instructors even better teachers at the photography workshops the Foundation is regularly conducting.
While the FPPF instructors are experts in their respective fields, many of them are non-teachers, hence the need for this seminar for non-education professionals to arm them with the basic knowledge, theories, principles, skills, values and training inherent in the teaching profession. The “Train the Trainors” seminar is being conducted by PhD professionals in the field of education. The first session last July 2, 2010 had Prof. Bert J. Tuga from the Philippine Normal University’s Department of Education who covered teaching styles and learning theories.
The session on July 9 was conducted by Prof. Josephine Calamlam of the PNU’s Center for Teaching and Learning. She discussed with the FPPF instructors the 4 strategies of formulating objectives, asking questions, managing the class and evaluating learning.
“Train the Trainors” seminar will have two more sessions on July 16 and 23, 2010.
