baguio fppf Basic Workshop in Baguio City Starts September 24

Kameraworx and the Federation of Philippine Photographers Foundation, Inc. FPPF) will hold the FPPF Baguio Photography Workshop on September 24, 25, 26, and 27, 2010 at the Hotel Henrico located in Legarda Road, Baguio City.

The Baguio Basic Photography workshop will cover topics that include digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) camera operation, composition, elements of design and basic photographic lighting – using studio strobes and available light. FPPF photography instructors from Manila will be in Baguio city to conduct the workshop.

Objective of the workshop is to teach participants how to operate their DSLR cameras in full manual and partial automation modes, as well as understand basic photography concepts such as ISO, aperture and shutter speed and how they relate to correct exposure. The participants will also be taught how to master depth of field (DOF), understand how the camera meters, as well as become exposed to foundation lessons on composition, elements of design, lighting and practice. Students will likewise be given an introduction to best practices of the digital imaging workflow and post-processing image enhancements with Adobe Photoshop.

The lessons will be full of hands-on exercises using the DSLR camera. Moreover, a full-day lighting session and model shoot will enable students to simulate studio photography, complete with studio strobes, to fully understand and apply basic lighting principles. The participants will also be introduced to the “strobist” style of flash photography, which is highly useful when photographing events and other outdoor activities.

From these hands-on shooting exercises, participants will be required to create and submit photographs relevant to the lessons of the day. Critique sessions will follow, wherein participants’ photos are evaluated for their technical and artistic merits. As a final output of the workshop, a photo competition among the participants featuring their best portrait and still life photos will be held, and awards given to winners.

The workshop fee is P5,000 for four full-day sessions. For more information on the workshop activities and registration details, please contact Kameraworx at 0922-811-0968 or 0922-811-3202, or visit our website at http://www.photoworldmanila.com.
