The Department of Foreign Affairs has tasked the FPPF to provide photos for an exhibit celebrating “Women and the Economy – Pangangalaga ng Ekonomiya sa Kamay ng Kababaihan.” The photo exhibit was inaugurated March 27, 2012 and will be on display at the DFA Main Lobby for a month.
The photo exhibit is a project of the Gender and Development Unit (GAD) of the Office of the Undersecretary for International Economic Relations under USec Laura Quiambao-Del Rosario, in line with the national celebration of Women’s Month. On hand to inaugurate the event was Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Rafael Seguis and DFA officials Dayang Bahjin of the OUIER-GAD, Jose Ma. Cariño, head of the Cultural Diplomacy Unit, and Consul Jay Alcantara.
The photos in large prints show women in various roles as contributors to the economy – doctors, farmers, artists, ballet dancers, bus conductors, tricycle drivers, engineers, etc. The photos on exhibit were contributed by top photographers from member-camera clubs of the FPPF: Dewey Sergio contributed 5 photos, Robert Garcia and Icky Salazar with 4 photos each, Toto Celzo and Edi Huang with 3 photos each, two photos each from Joey Tañedo, Amir Alba and Boyet Guevarra and one each from Lito Beltran, Rey Castañeda, Susan Celzo, Ador Pamintuan and Carlo Carlos.
