PhotoWorldAsia 2012 will be held January 26-31 at the Glorietta Activity Center in Makati for the photography trade show, and at the Asian Institute of Management Convention Center (ACCM) for the educational series. Venue for the photo exhibits will be the EDSA Hall of Glorietta 1, while the hands-on photo shoot with PWAsia 2012 guests will be at Fernbrook in Portofino South, Daang Reyna, Las Piñas, Metro Manila on January 31. There will also be a Banaue Photo Safari on Feb 1-3 in Ifugao Province. Chairman for PhotoWorld Asia 2012 is multi-awarded travel photographer George Cabig.

Cabig announces that convention speakers in the annual event will include four world class foreign photographers: American commercial photographer Jack Reznicki, German sports and nature photographer Peter Frank, US professional photographer Doran Wilson and top American digital guru Don Emmerich. Other convention speakers are noted Filipino photographers who have distinguished themselves in their work: The brothers Manny and Boboy Librodo, Daks Bangawan, Luis Liwanag, Lester Ledesma and Eric Cabales.

JACK REZNICKI

Jack Reznicki (http://www.reznicki.com/) is an internationally renowned commercial, people and children photographer based in New York City. His creative problem solving has helped promote products and services for many companies such as Toys “R” Us, Tylenol, AstraZeneca, The Wall Street Journal, Hyatt, Kodak, Reader’s Digest, Crest, AT&T, Playtex, and several Time Magazine covers.

Jack is the author of several books on commercial photography including “Photographer’s Survival Guide”, which deals with copyright and legal issues for photographers and “Studio and Commercial Photography- A Kodak Pro Workshop” book and other books.

Along with many other awards, Jack was very proud to twice receive the IPC (International Photographic Council) Leadership medal for “Excellence in Studio Photography” at the United Nations. Jack was appointed a guest professor at Shandong University of Art and Design in Jinan, China and named a Mo-Tse Grand Master Photographer in China. He is also honored to be named an Honorary Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography.

He proudly served as the President of Professional Photographers of America (PPA) and named an Honorary Master Photographer. He was President of NY chapter of Advertising Photographers of America (APA), and sat on the NY board of American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP). His leadership skills have been lauded and awarded both here in the US and abroad.

On the Faculty at the School of Visual Arts in New York City Jack teaches a graduate level course on the business of photography. You can also find Jack as one of the Dream Team Instructors at the Photoshop World Conventions.

Jack is one of the original “Canon Explorers of Light”, an “Epson Stylus Pro”, host of the Epson Print Academy’s Track One, an X-Rite Coloratti, and a Sandisk “Photo Master”. Jack has also done Beta testing and consulting with Canon, Epson, Mamiya, Microsoft, X-Rite, Leaf digital backs, onOne Software, and Adobe.


PETER FRANK

Peter Frank (http://www.action-and-sports.de/) is a world-class sports photographer who has covered car racing, martial arts, swimming and track and field events in major sports competitions all over the planet. Now based in Indonesia, this German professional photographer is a member of the Verband Deutscher Sportjournalisten (VDS) and the International Sport Press Association (AIPS).

Frank started capturing family pictures and nature shots in black and white back in 1973 with his grandfather’s fully manual Nikkormat. These were black-and-white pictures that he developed himself in his small laboratory.

While rendering compulsory military service as a young man, Frank captured photos on military training for the German Army, specializing in action shots on helicopter and tank training. He also developed B/W and colored slides in military laboratory.

From 1987 to 1995, he embarked on his professional career as a freelance photographer for a regional newspaper, the Sports Minor Leagues. It was also at this time that he first experienced animal photography in Africa and South America and published his animal photos in a German magazine. At the same time, he also dabbled in photo productions for fashion shows.

Frank spent more time in nature photography from 1996 to 2002 in the African continent armed with his Nikon F90X and Nikon F100 with lenses ranging from 20mm to 400mm. He photographed wildlife and nature in Namibia, South Africa, Kenya, Uganda, Botswana, Mozambique and Zambia. His first DSLR was the Nikon D100, in 2003, and took more photos of nature and wildlife in South Tanzania.

In 2004, Frank started sports photography for a German photo agency with his upgraded Nikon D2H and covered ice hockey and football for the German Bundesliga and Minor Leagues. It was also in 2004 that he undertook his first nature photo workshop for amateur photographers in Serengeti, Tanzania.

He added Canon to his arsenal of equipment in 2006 with two Canon EOS Mark 2n and extended his sports photography to international events. He later ugraded to a Canon Mark 3 and covered more sports photography.

He has married a Filipina, relocated to Sentul City in Bogor, Indonesia and is now enjoying nature photography.


DORAN WILSON

Doran Wilson2 Foreign Guest Speakers

Doran Wilson (http://www.doranandassoc.com/) has been a commercial photographer in Fort Wayne, Indiana for 27 years. His many clients include Zimmer, Peg Perego USA, Dana, Eaton, and Design Collaborative. His many assignments takes him throughout the US and Canada and his specialty is photographing medical devices and architecture. His background in art combined with his vast knowledge in Photoshop gives him a creative edge in the world of commercial photography.

Doran will show you how to use digital technology to make some of today’s hottest product shots come to life. With the use of lighting and Photoshop he will demonstrate the steps to produce award winning commercial photographs. He will share how he transforms ordinary products into vibrant works of art for his clients.

Doran will also discuss how to quote and book a commercial assignment, how to work with art directors and how together they conceptualize and execute the assignment. Doran will give you tips on workflow and delivery of images in today’s commercial market.

Even if you are not a commercial photographer, you will benefit from the knowledge and experience that Doran has to share. You will be inspired by the beauty and precision of his work and you are guaranteed to pick up many tips and tricks in Photoshop.


DON EMMERICH

don emmerich Foreign Guest Speakers

Don Emmerich, M.Photog. M.Art, M.EI, Cr. API, Hon-EA, F-ASP, (http://www.donemmerich.com/) is America’s foremost authority on all things digital. He has been in digital since Photoshop version 1.0 – 1990. His passion for photography is legendary. Don has been on the leading edge of all things digital. His understanding of this media is unmatched. Don was the technical editor for PPA magazine for 16 years. He is the immediate past president of the American Society of Photographers and is an ASP Fellow.

Don Emmerich helped pioneer the integration of digital imaging with conventional photography. For the past several years, he has traveled the world advocating and teaching these technologies to various companies and individuals. His teaching has taken him to twenty-seven countries on four continents and has earned him such foreign honors as the Master of Photography degree from China.

One of only 40 members of Cameracraftsmen of America, Don has earned all four degrees from the Professional Photographer’s Association and was recently awarded a fellowship into the American Society of Photographers. He served as Technical Editor for the Professional Photographer magazine for 16 years and past board member for the Professional Photographers of America and the American Society of Photographers.
He lives in Oklahoma City and owns Studio Art Photography with his wife Nancy. Don consults for companies across the US and continues to teach worldwide.
